After trying different settings in pitch and temperament with this sample set (for some Hanff & Buxtehude pieces), I decided to stick with the original settings:
- Pitch: 529 Hz
- Temperament: almost similar to quarter-comma meantone
- 100% front & rear
It reproduces how this organ sounded in the 18th century. Fascinating. The plenum is sharp as a razor blade. You love it or you hate it, I guess.
This toccata is a tricky one, a bit like a Sweelinck toccata. The notes aren't particularly difficult, but how to play this is more difficult. If you play it neatly in time, it is somewhat dull. So after trying some different things, I took more freedom in tempi and accentuations.
As always, I couldn't decide on the registration, so 2 versions:
00:00 Version 1
Oberwerk: Quintaden 16', Principal 8', Rohrflöth 8', Octav 4', Octav 2', Mixtur VI
Pedal: Principal 16', Subbass 16', Octav 8', Mixtur IV, Posaun 16'
01:36 Version 2
Oberwerk: Principal 8', Quinta 6', Octav 4'
Pedal: Principal 16'
