Of all the organ works of one Alexandre Pierre-François Boëly, a composer who, during the time when such composers as Lefébure-Wély were in vogue, was shunned and eventually dismissed from his post as organist of St. Germain l'Auxerrois because of his obsession for what at that time was considered antiquated music, perhaps the most curious piece is one Fantaisie pour le Verset "Judex Crederis" au Te Deum. It would seem that as much as he despised the contemporary musical trends, even he could not escape them, but in doing so, wrote perhaps one of the best examples of an "orage" piece, or a musical depiction of the Last Judgment. Also of note is the chord cluster at the end. While this was not anything new at the time (for example, Grand jeu avec la tonnerre by Michel Corrette, Variations sur la Marche des Marseillois et Ca ira by Balbastre) the notation is certainly unique (attached below).
