We have no music for organ solo from Joseph Haydn. So are his pieces for Flötenuhr rare gems.
Joseph Haydn was a brillant master of "le petit rien". He created his "Flötenuhrstücke" as aphoristic and intellectual pieces of a high quality with the material of minimalized musical forms and subjects. The ambitus of the upper half of a normal keyboard didn't disturb his art of composition.
I present a dangerous experiment here -
dangerous in two respects:
1. I used the Hruby Rohozc organ model which shows a very beautiful organ in the chapel of a Czech castel. The instrument has a unique charming atmosphere. I tryed a "virtual restauration" with the tools of the Hauptwerk software because the organ is in a bad state.
2. A music-machine like a Flötenuhr is always more virtuos than my ten fingers.
The performed music is the repertory of a Flötenuhr which has been built by Haydn's friend Father Primitivus Niemecz in 1793. It contains only a 4´-Flute stop.
