Victor Kioulaphides (b. 1961) was born in Athens, Greece and moved to New York City in 1979. He studied double bass and composition at The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music; his composition teachers were Giampaolo Bracali and Ludmila Ulehla. He has taught at the Lucy Moses School for Music and Dance and the Brooklyn Conservatory. Kioulaphides’s music has been performed throughout the world, and he has received commissions from many performers and ensembles. His catalog includes eight operas, and many orchestra, chamber, solo, choral, and vocal works.
