Nigel Gaze (b. 1943) — Offertory Interlude No. 2 (2008) for organ

English composer Nigel Gaze (b. 1943) was born in Leamington Spa. He graduated in Medicine at Liverpool University and later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He studied piano with Gordon Green and Douglas Miller, and organ with Caleb Jarvis, obtaining the LRAM and FRCO diplomas during his time at medical school. Later he was awarded the FTCL diploma (performing), and then the degree of B.Mus. from London University, winning the Convocation
Prize. He continued to have organ lessons from Noel Rawsthorne, organist emeritus of Liverpool Cathedral. He lived in Preston from 1980, where he was organist of the Fishergate Baptist Church. On retiring as a surgeon, Gaze lived for a period in Portugal before returning to England. He has served as organist at a number of churches and accompanist for several choirs.
