Gustav Gunsenheimer (b. 1934) is a German composer and church musician who has worked for many years in lower Bavaria, Germany. He was educated at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and was mentored by Carl Orff in the field of elementary music education. In 1969, he became cantor/director of music at St. Luke’s Church in Schweinfurt. Gunsenheimer has led a number of music festivals and been director of other ensembles, including the Liederkranz Schweinfurt oratorio choir. In 1987 he was awarded the city medal of Schweinfurt and the Order of Merit in 1990. He has published numerous works for voices/chorus, instrumental ensembles, and organ.
