Circle I
Chorale I
Circle II
Chorale II

The „circle“ consists of a five bar ostinato that is repeated again and again. The melody enters the circle line by line at different angles. The only difference between circle I and circle II is that soprano and bass are swapped. Except for a climax towards the end, chorale II is a copy of chorale I in open harmony.
