Description:
Cedric Hargraves (1921–2010) was born in Adelaide, Australia and lived in New Zealand from 1935. He studied the organ from 1939–41 with the prominent New Zealand organist Edgar Randall. Hargraves spent his
professional career as a pharmacist. Upon retirement, he composed a number of works for organ during the 1990s.

"Prayer for Peace" comes from Volume Three of Hargraves' works. The score states that it was composed in April of 1999. It is sincere and sadly sweet, and written in the key of G major. It is marked to be played "Cantablile, freely, with expression."

Today, September 11th, is the 16th anniversary of the World Trade Center towers in New York City being destroyed by planes hijacked by terrorists. It is a day that changed the world for ever...

My wife and I live in Jersey City, New Jersey. Our home is only about 4 miles from "Ground Zero," where the towers stood.

This upload is offered as a remembrance of the day.

With so much strife, turmoil and hatred in the world, it seems like true peace is an ideal that we can never hope to achieve...

I wish peace to all who read these words or who listen to this music
