It is unfortunate that only 4 organ works of Nicolaus Hasse (1617-1672) have survived to the present day. This is the first of two settings of the chorale "Jesus Christus, unser Heiland, der von uns", marked "pro organo pleno". It consists of three verses without breaks between them. The chorale melody appears first in the soprano, then in the tenor, and finally in the pedal line.
