Ronald de Jong (b. 1956) — Fantasia (2008) for organ
"Fantasia" (2008) was composed for the Stichting Haags Orgel Kontakt (The Hague Organ Foundation) as part of a commissioning project to celebrate the city’s organs with new compositions from several Dutch composers. The genial fantasia begins with expressive, lyrical music that is followed by a jaunty middle section based on the same material. A brief return of the opening music leads to a coda.
Dutch composer and organist Ronald de Jong (b. 1956) was educated at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague and the Institute for Church Music in Utrecht. In 1991 he was appointed cantor-organist at the Oude Kerk in Zoetemeer, Netherlands and has also taught (organ, harpsichord, theory) at the Center for Art and Culture. De Jong has written organ and choral compositions and has also been very active as both an abstract and figurative painter.
