Console Craft 4.7 is here: Building composite organs just got a whole lot easier!
When I first sat down to write Console Craft, it was purely out of personal necessity. I just needed a tool to digitize a local pipe organ right here in Nigeria without getting lost in endless lines of hand-edited XML. I honestly never imagined it would reach beyond my own desk, let alone be used to design massive, custom composite instruments.
Seeing nearly 100 organ enthusiasts download Console Craft and use it to bring their virtual consoles to life has been deeply humbling. Knowing this little tool is genuinely helping people across the Hauptwerk community means the world to me, and your feedback is what drove this entire update.
Version 4.7 officially opens the doors for anyone who wants to mix, match, and share composite organs, effortlessly blending ranks from installed Hauptwerk sample sets alongside your own audio recordings.
Here is what is new under the hood:
New Features
• Sample Referencing & Legal Sharing: You can now reference installed Hauptwerk sample sets directly without re-packing their audio files into your exported organ package. This means you can finally share your custom composite instruments legally with anyone who has those same sets installed, and even include ranks of your own recorded samples!
• Primary Release Support: Added full integration for a rank's primary release folder (e.g., R0) alongside short and medium releases.
• No More Manual Cue Point Edits: External sample sets lacking embedded .wav metadata cues (such as the Friesach organ) now compile seamlessly via primary release folder mapping, no manual cue point editing required.
• Smart Folder Parsing: Upgraded the routing engine to automatically detect and handle non-standard, flat release-folder layouts across different published sample sets.
• Quick Path Resets: Added a one-click "Clear" button to all sample-folder pickers for instant resets when swapping ranks between different packages.
Bug Fixes
• Smarter Validation: Fixed a false-positive "missing sample folder" warning that previously flagged correctly configured ranks during pre-export diagnostic checks.
This routing has been tested end-to-end against real, published sample sets with complex folder conventions so your custom builds stay rock-solid.
