Highland Cathedral (+midi file)

Here is an authentic Scottish piece - written by two Germans!! I often play this in concert with the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. The sound of full orchestra, organ and pipe band is quite breathtaking!! Here I use all the resources of this huge instrument to recreate some of the grandeur of the piece.

My performance is based on the SFO version as arranged by the late John Mason MBE, previous director of music for the orchestra. To add some more authenticity, the cymbal samples heard here are the same as on our commercial recording of this piece. The samples were taken in the dressing room of the Usher Hall Edinburgh during rehearsals and played by our talented young percussionist, David Brodlie.
