Paul de Maleingreau (1887 - 1956) was lecturer at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium. His work for organ was largely appreciated, he was held in high esteem by e.g. Louis Vierne, who dedicated "Sur le Rhin" to him, and by Charles Tournemire. Similar to Tournemire, he often used Gregorian chant as a basis for his work.
Nombres is the third and final part of the Symphonie de l'Agneau Mystique opus 24. It has a subtitle "Agnus Dei, fons bonifatis et laetitiae". It is based on the antiphon "Maneant in vobis". It starts slowly yet it ends with a triumphant climax in the end.
