Here again we see the genius of Flor Peeters at work!
This brief "railroad toccata" on the very well-known melody gives a BIG effect in just 90 seconds of music.
As the composer points out, there are different "versions" of the tune (1775) in common use, and the one chosen by him is the Swiss version of 1819.
The text is:
Holy God, we praise Thy Name;
Lord of all, we bow before Thee.
All on earth Thy sceptre claim,
All in heaven above adore Thee.
Infinite Thy vast domain,
Everlasting is Thy reign.
Clarence A. Walworth (1853), based on the Te Deum
A performance note: Peeters asks for "Full Organ" without 16' manual reeds, and marks the dynamic as FF. The final chord is marked FFF, so, I add the 16 manual reeds and the 32 reed in the pedal.
I "pull them on" BEFORE the final chord, as if I were actually pulling out the stops. This organ has NO PISTONS! ;-)
