Lionel Rogg (b. 1936) is a Swiss organist and composer who served for many years on the faculty of the Geneva Conservatory until his retirement in 2001. As one of the world’s most distinguished concert organists, he has toured and recorded widely. Rogg recorded the complete organ works of Bach three times, most notably on the A. Silbermann organ in Arlesheim (first released in 1970). In the late 1970s, Rogg began composing, focusing primarily on works for organ. In the years since he has completed many organ solos, chamber works, and a concerto for organ and orchestra, commissioned by the city of Geneva in 1993 for the inauguration of the new organ in Victoria Hall.
La Cité céleste (1995) is a piece inspired by "The Revelation" of St. John, from Chapter 21, The Celestial Jerusalem.
