Here is my next "Hymn-of-the-Day." This one makes use of the fine text to celebrate God's creation in nature and to give thanks for all that He has given us.
This time, I've played the hymn in an "English cathedral" manner, using the phrasing and registration to "emphasize" the text. It is played as if a large congregation was singing.
I REALLY hope that others will be willing to post an upload as a "Hymn-of-the Day!" In my mind, there is NOTHING more important for an organist to play well than hymns! We may play all 6 Vierne symphonies, but if we can't play a hymn well and creatively, we are going to difficulties getting the job that we want.
We all have a great chance to practice our hymn playing by uploading them to the Concert Hall. Also, have you ever noticed that ANY time someone posts a hymn, it ALWAYS gets good response?
Come on,guys! Don't let me post alone!
After this, I'm posting one more Thanksgiving hymn, then all start with Advent on the first Sunday of advent, the first day of the church year.
Please join in the spirit and post an Advent hymn! ;-)
