| Description: | Abraham de Louis Niedermeyer (Nyon, April 27, 1802 - Paris, March 14, 1861) was a Swiss composer and teacher.
Swiss composer, he studied piano and composition from first to Vienna, then to Rome and Naples with Vincenzo Fioravanti with Nicola Antonio Zingarelli. As a young man he managed to represent, with the help of his friend Gioacchino Rossini, at the Théâtre des Italiens and other theaters of Paris some of his works, including the most important "Stradella" (1837) and "Marie Stuart" (1844) .
Leaving the theater, he devoted himself to the composition of sacred music (motets and masses), directing a music school to which he gave his name.
He also composed some piano pieces of a brilliant character and lyrical texts by Alphonse de Lamartine and Victor Hugo. |
