I recorded the Sonata with Bonn-Beuel, St. Joseph, and used the same MIDI-file for the competition of these three organs.
The 5th. Sonata of Guilmant shows very clear good and/or bad features of any organ.
There are two questions which will help to decide which organ is the best one for the symphonic French romantic repertory:
1. How do you feel the sound and the charisma of the several organs?
2. How exactly can you recognize complicated details of the composition without knowing this Sonata very well?
I was very surprised about my own choice ...
