The Crucifixion movement of the Passion Symphony is a piece of contrasts utilizing the softest to the loudest stops in this exciting instrument. Dupré’s score also includes long rests which deliver the dramatic impact of full organ sound expanded by the considerable reverberation time of buildings like Notre Dame de Metz.
To make this score playable on a virtuaI Cavaillé-Coll organ, I am taking advantage of the “octave adjustments” which Dupré used in his recording of this work at St. Ouen in Rouen, France.
