Description: | Stephen Paulus wrote over 450 works during his career as a composer including some significant works for organ, though he did not play the instrument. In 2008, Paulus was commissioned to write a piece in appreciation of PIPEDREAMS and its host, Michael Barone. The resulting work, "Blithely Breezing Along", was intended to be the first movement of a suite for organ entitiled "Baronian Suite". He planned to add subsequent movements as commissions came in. The second commission did not arrive until 2013 and the resulting piece "A Refined Reflection" is presented here. On July 4, 2013, Paulus suffered a stroke which left him in a coma and unable to finish the work. The last 5 measures were completed by Caron Farmer, who along with Floyd Farmer, commissioned the work. Paulus died from medical complications on October 19, 2014. |
