Description: | One of my older improvisations/recordings from the "pre-GO" era, where I used Reason as the sampler of my choice. This work has never been published before.
Once upon a time, I read about the "thunder" register installed in a (Cavaillé-Coll?) organ in a registration book, which permanently triggers the two lowest C and C# pipes to generate a rolling, thundering sound cloud.
I was curious how this could be used in a composition and came up with this dark, spooky atmosphere (Apocalypse) that finally ends up in a salvating majestic chord for a while (Elysium), before unexpectedly dropping back into darkness. That's where the title of the piece derives from. |
