Johann Bernhard Bach (1676 – 1749) was second cousin to Johann Sebastian Bach. He was organist in Eisenach, and there he worked a few years together with Georg Philipp Telemann. Most of his organ works we know today survived in copies by one of his pupils, Johann Gottfried Walter. The chorale prelude “Christ lag in Todesbanden” is one of them. The intimate character of the chorale prelude goes very well with the intimate sound of the Silbermann organ of Zöblitz.
