| Description: | This AllaBreve is represented only one other time on the concert hall.
Perhaps it is not that popular; but imho the quality of this work is excellent, so I chose to upload it again.
The main question is in which tempo it should be played.
For those interested: here is a link to an expert view on tempo n the 18th century.
http://www.janvanbiezen.nl/18century.html
The jist of the whole treatise is, that alla breve does not mean “twice as fast” , but a stately tempo where every bar is thought in two.
Bach's authorship of this work is disputed.
The existing manuscript copy (of whoever's original work) ('not a close copy of a Bach autograph"- Williams, The Organ Music of J. S. Bach, p.194) is labeled "Allabreve con Pedale pro Organo pleno". |
