Description: | Johann Ernst Eberlin, (1702-1762) in Salzburg, is a german composer and organist.
In 1726, he became organist at the service of the Archbishop of Salzburg.
He composed and conducted the orchestra parts for the court concerts and plays. His contemporaries were Leopold Mozart and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (which he was occasionally the teacher) and Anton Cajetan Adlgasser. For his enormous work of composition, Eberlin influenced many musicians.
Eberlin knew through his skilful work, turning the traditional Baroque music in a new style. Artistically, it is thus between Heinrich Biber and Joseph Haydn in the pre-classical movement. Alongside liturgical works, Eberlin also composed instrumental music and operas. He also composed music for Salzburg theater of the Benedictine school..
