(improved and recorded at Notre-Dame de Paris in December 1963)
Transcription by John Scott Whiteley, Butz-Verlag, Bonn, 2006 (Éditions Chantraine). "This Lento, one of Cochereau´s finest slow movements, is a set of variations on a sinuos line (F) built almost entirely from A, B and C. The counter-melody D gains prominence as the meditation progresses. [...] Pierre Pincemaille, student and devote of Cochereau, now Organist the basilica of St-Denis, considered that this was one of his best recorded improvisations."
