THE WOODY WOODPECKER SONG

The song began with Kay Kyser's 1948 recording with Harry Babbitt's laugh interrupting vocalist Gloria Wood, It was a big hit & became one of the biggest singles of 1948. It inspired a craze & young boys got a "Woody Woodpecker" haircut. The cartoons continued in production until 1972 and The New Woody Woodpecker Show, ran on Saturday mornings from 1999 to 2002. This song is well recognized by adults and kids alike, now here it is on the organ. A far cry from the classics or hymns, but nevertheless now represented here.
