Description:
Édouard Batiste (1820 – 1876) was a French composer and organist. He was born in Paris and showed a rare musical talent at a very early age. When he was only 8 years old he entered the Conservatoire and Royl Chapel. Having won prices for solfege at age 12, he was appointed professor and teacher of solfeggio at the age of 17. He was organist of the church of St. Nicolas des Champs in Paris from 1841 to 1854, and organist of the grand organ of the church of St. Eustache from 1854 to his death. Renowned for his improvisation ability, he was also a prolific composer. More than 350 compisitions for organ were published during his lifetime.

Wolfram Syré did an excellent series of works by Batiste last december. If you like this piece, you should certainly listen to his Batiste performances.

I found this work on the website of Johannus.com. They publish an organ work every month in there “musical contributions” series. The works themselves are often interesting, but the typographical quality is very poor in my opinion. So I re-typset the works I want to play myself. And having done that I might as well share them with whoever is interested.
