The tune Picardy is based on a French carol and is named after the Provence in France and was first published in the 1848 collection Chansons populaires des provinces de France, "Picardy”. It is usually used for the words "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence”. There was an excellent setting of this tune and words by Ralph Vaughan Williams made in 1906.
Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly minded,
For with blessing in His hand,
Christ our God to earth descending
Comes our homage to demand.
