This is my reaction to a delightful and exquisite piece of digital photo are by George V Richards.
George had suggested that although the piece was quite modern, the most suitable musical interpretation might be organum.
So I created two impressions. The first utilizes modern harmonies from the onset with obvious modal underpinnings which do in fact follow - for a time - the harmonic practices of organum. This piece is unusual for the waterways sketches in that there is an actual score and it is replicable without synthetic instruments.
The second impression - posted after this - I attempt to remain with modality and classic organum somewhat more faithfully although I do veer into more modern textures and voicings in the last third of the piece.
I am deeply honored to participate in this cycle of creativity.
