Prelude and Fugue in G Minor, BWV 535 Uploaded by: jocr Composer: Bach, J. S. Organ: 1686/1860 Bosch-F.C. Schnitger, Vollenhove, Netherlands Software: Hauptwerk IV Views: 895
Bach wrote a lot of Chorale Preludes on Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr, most of them of considerable length.
Ofcourse they are ALL great and masterpieces, but from the first time I heard this one I was very much impressed by the small one page jewel from the Organ Mass (Dritte Teil der Klavierübung).
The (apparent) simpleness of the music and the intricate weaving of the fugue struck me as so honest and devout that I played it myself over and over again.
Of the baroque Hauptwerk organs I have imho it sounded best on the combined 4' flute stops of the HW and RW of Vollenhove.
The great acoustics of this beautiful organ and building are perfect for it.
