Aart de Kort (b. 1962) — Arioso (1982/92) for organ
Dutch organist and composer Aart de Kort (b. 1962) was born in Leidschendam and studied the organ, the piano, sacred music in the Den Haag Royal Conservatory and in Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory. His primary teachers were Wim van Beek, Jacques van Oortmerssen, Klaas Bolt, and Jan Valkestijn. He won the first prize in improvisation in Belgium (1981) and the Netherlands (1989). In 1994 and in 1998 he was one of the four finalists of the Haarlem International Improvisation Competition. As a composer, Aart de Kort has written many pieces in all musical forms.
