Attwood performed this piece at the funeral.
Atwood (1765-1838) was an important composer and was organist at several London churches including The Chapel Royal and St Paul’s Cathedral from 1796 to 1838 when he was succeeded by Sir John Goss. He is buried in the Crypt at St Paul’s. He was a pupil of Mozart and a friend of Mendelssohn.
