| Description: | Richter’s trio on “Jesu meine Freude” is one of those pieces that is just “WOW”. Like the trio on “O Gott, du frommer Gott” it reminds me a bit of an aria in a cantate. But this time both the upper voices get to play the accompaniment and the choral melody. The opening melody is thus heard solo in the upper voice, against the choral melody in the lower voice, solo in the lower voice and against the choral melody in the upper voice. This way it creates each time a subtle different feeling. In my opinion it’s the best of the four pieces of Richter’s opus 20 I have posted until now.
I have again chosen a ‘stringy’ registration.
