Reiner Gaar (b. 1958) — Et sepultus est (2015) for organ
“Et sepultus est” (2015) bears a title from a line in the Nicene Creed from the section about the life of Jesus: “And he was buried.” It is a slow and atmospheric meditation.
German composer and organist Reiner Gaar (b. 1958) was born in Schwabach and was educated in Bayreuth and Würzburg. His teachers in organ and improvisation include Günther Kaunzinger, Daniel Roth, and Helga Schauerte. In 1985, he became Director of Music for the regional church administration district of Castell in Lower Franconia (Bavaria). From 1987–95 he also taught organ at the University of Church Music in Esslingen am Neckar. In 1998, he joined the faculty of the University of Church Music in Bayreuth. Gaar has appeared frequently as an organ recitalist and has published various compositions for organ and chorus.
