Description: | Tonight's lesson may be the last for a little while. Holidays are over and I'm back in the classroom tomorrow.
Another of C. H. Trevor's instructional anthologies is "A Concise School of Trio Playing" (published by OUP, 1964).
Trio No 5 is by Johann Christian Friedrich Schneider (1786 0 1853).
My approach to trios is as follows.
RH plus LH
RH plus Pedal
LH plus Pedal
All parts
All of the above - slowly, in short sections with much repetition. Mark fingering, pedalling and phrasing as needed and stick to it. Don't let anything pass. If there's a slip, go back a bar or two and fix it up. Sometimes a slip occurs because of inadequate preparation ahead.
Finally, bring it up to tempo and perform it.
The audio file shows all of the above.
Two MIDI files are attached - all 3 parts at practice tempo, then at performance tempo.
Registration on the Poblet sample set:
RH - RP Bourdon 8, Rohr Flöte 4, Nasard 2 2/3
LH - OW Holz Gedackt 8, Travers Flöte 4, Wald Flöte 2, Sifflöte 1
PED - Subbass 16, Viola Bass 8, Choral Bass 4 coupled to HW Rohr Flöte 8, Holz Flöte 4 |
