Walther sets 5 verses of this chorale. The first verse for manuals only is in a 3-part texture with the chorale tune in the soprano. For verse 2, Walther increases the texture to 4 voices. Verse 3 includes the pedal and the chorale melody is soloed out on a separate manual. Verse four returns to manuals-only before the pedal is reintroduced in the final verse.
