During the summer holidays I transcribed two prelude and fugues by Johann Ludwig Krebs. The autographs are in themselves a work of art. Krebs has a beautiful hand of writing music, elegant, flowing, clear. If you see the written music, it's beautiful look makes one want to play it.
In difiiculty and in musical depth they are on a par with the great works of J.S. Bach. So this is very much a work in progress. Having now more or less mastered the prelude, its time to take on the fugue. This prelude is followed by a triple fugue, 15 pages of dense contrapuntal writing. It's probably going to take me months to practice it.
