I've always loved this powerful Grand-Choeur-Finale with its gripping rhythms and nice middle parts. Sometimes I hear this piece played legato, quite fast and with "notes communes" which Widor had not intended for this kind of movements in his symphonies.
I hope this recording may catch the intention of the composer by an almost Händel-like treatment of the music.
For this recording only "Rouen stops" of the GSCC have been used.
