Richard Proulx (1937–2010) — Litterarum ordine (1998) for organ

Richard Proulx (1937–2010) was one of the leading figures in American church music. As a composer, his output included music in every liturgical genres, as well as concert and film works. He had a long association with Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, which he served in various capacities, including as Organist/Music Director from 1980–1994. From 1991 until his death he was the leader of the Cathedral Singers, a professional ensemble based at Holy Name that gave many live concerts and produced over 20 recordings of a wide variety of choral music. Proulx served on the committees of several major hymnals including The Hymnal 1982 (Episcopal), the Methodist Hymnal, Worship, and the New Yale Hymnal for Colleges and Schools. He was the recipient of numerous honors, including major awards from the Diocese of Chicago, National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and he American Guild of Organists.
