Description: | Stölzel was a prolific composer of very high quality music who worked mostly in Gotha, near J.S. Bach and exact contemporary with Bach, also a member of the Mizler society. It is known that Bach studied, performed, and copied Stölzel's music. For example, the famous aria "Bist du bei mir" in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, which for a long time was thought to be by Bach, was in fact written by Stölzel. The majority of Stölzel's works are lost because of the arrogance of his successor in Gotha, Georg Benda, who tossed reams of Stölzel's manuscripts into the garbage, calling them "useless junk". Existing scores are still not widely available. This trio sonata can be found on IMSLP http://imslp.org/wiki/Trio_Sonata_for_Organ_in_C_major_(Stölzel,_Gottfried_Heinrich)
