Description: | George Calkin (10th August 1829 - 13th July 1911) was the youngest of 8 children born to James and Victoire.
He was a well-known organist, cellist, choral conductor and prolific composer for the organ. His works include 16 books of organ voluntaries.
This is a fine and vigorous work, showing the organ to good advantage. It is the type of postlude that would have been popular in the composer's day, and, would still please many congregations.
Various "degrees" of the full organ are heard throughout, and the Choir Tuba gets a brief "fanfare" as well.
I'll soon be reviewing the new Sonus Paradisi Hill Organ sample set for "The Barde," and will be doing a goodly number of "demo recordings" to illustrate my opinions. I hope you will listen to them, and read the review upon completion.
The score is attached below, as well as a photo of George Calkin.
