American composer John Carter (b. 1930) was born in Nashville, Tennessee and was educated at Trinity University (San Antonio) and Peabody College (Nashville). In his long career as a composer, church musician, educator, he taught in public schools in Ohio and was on the faculty of Morehead State University in Kentucky. Carter’s hundreds of published compositions can be found in the catalog of many publishers. He is particularly known for his numerous choral compositions and more than 60 collections of solo piano works.
