Georg Wilhelm Saxer (? - 1740) was a German Baroque composer and organist. The Leipziger manuscript with signature Becker II.2.51 preserves three preludes and fugues by his hands, and two more anonymous preludes that are probably by his hand as well. The are very nice pieces in the style of the North German organ school. The digital copy of the manuscript was made the manuscript not fully open. Notes on the right side of the left side folio and notes on the left side of the right hand folio are therefore not always visible. A lot of the missing notes can be reasonably guessed. However, in a few spots it is less clear what the missing notes can be. All doubtful spots are indicated in the score. The F Dur prelude and fugue is no less a pleasant surprise as the e moll one, published a week ago. A lively prelude, full of stylus phantasticus elements is followed by a well written fugue. The fugue is followed by and Adagio with solemn chords, afters which the piece ends with a short virtuosic episode.
