Final Fantasy III/VI is one of these great old-school RPGs made by Square with a seemingly never-ending story line and a fair number of plot twists in it. Also, one could say that a bunch of "sub-stories" are woven into it, such as the Opera House sidequest where the protagonist has to make sure that the ongoing performance is a success for the impresario.
My FF6 medley picks up the story at that point (watch the video to have a glimpse at the opera scene footage), but then, about mid-way into the piece, recalls the opening and ending motifs of the game soundtrack for just the right amount of drama.
