Risto Ainali (b. 1948 Himanka) studied as a cantor at the Kuopio Music Institute and graduated with an organ diploma at the Sibelius Academy in 1976. He has been a lecturer at the Oulu Conservatoire since 1988. Ainali has composed organ and choral music. The most notable works are Luke Passio (1997, recording 2000) and Requiem (2001). In 2005, Ainali released an organ CD, including his composition Passacaglia (2003).
