This sparkling piece cleverly utilizes only three chords (C, F G) over a pedal point throughout its entire length--although a fourth chord (secondary dominant on D) is tossed in to call attention to the final cadence.

Domenico Zipoli (1688-1726) completed the collection that includes this piece in 1716, not long before he left for South America as a Jesuit missionary.
