From the composer: "'I composed 'Thirty-Four' the day before my thirty-fifth birthday. The closing of my thirty-fourth year felt like the closing of an important chapter in my life. In this composition I musically depict my feelings about memories of various events that occurred in my life in the immediate past - particularly matters of the heart - as well as my feelings about moving on and leaving the past behind."
