Lithuanian composer Zita Bružaitė (b. 1966) was born in Kaunas and educated at the Lithuanian Academy of Music where she studied with Julius Juzeliūnas. In 1998, she founded the mixed chamber ensemble “Collegium” with violinist Ilona Klusaitė. From 2009–17, Bružaitė was chair of the Lithuanian Composers’ Union. She has received numerous awards and international recognition for her music. In 2011, she was composer in residence for the Prestigne Music Festival in the UK. Bružaitė’s output as a composer consists of a large number of chamber and choral works along with pieces for orchestra, music for solo instruments, and several stage works.
