Vers la Creche

This dramatic piece is based on two alternating themes. First is the Gregorian chant “Veni Redemptor”, introduced on the organs’ foundation stops. The second depicts the infant Christ child being rocked in His crib (“creche”), and is played on the Recit Gambe and Celeste. De Maliengreau was a 20th century Belgian organist, composer and musicologist, who specialized in the study of ancient music.
