Description: | Paulmichl was born in 1935 as the ninth of ten children of a family of teachers.
He attended the Vinzentinum grammar school in Brixen and then studied theology for three years at the Philosophical-Theological University of Brixen.
He received his first piano and organ lessons from his father. He was also a student of Angelo Alverá and Josef Knapp.
Paulmichl then graduated from the church music academy in Regensburg and the music academy in Munich.
In 1967 he completed his studies with the state examination.
From 1975 to 2003 he was a lecturer in church music at the State Conservatory of Music "Claudio Monteverdi" in Bolzano, as well as Kapellmeister, organist and choirmaster at Bolzano Cathedral.
For several years he was also a music teacher at the kindergarten teachers' school in Bolzano.
In 1985 Paulmichl won the competition for the position of chapel master at Salzburg Cathedral, but did not take the position.
For his extensive composing work for organ and choir, he has received numerous awards and competition prizes at home and abroad. Paulmichl's work consists mainly of choral, organ and chamber music.
His real hobby, however, is church music (Musica sacra). |
